Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the most common questions we receive about our luxury 7-night crewed yacht charters in the Caribbean & Mediterranean. If you have any other questions, please contact us – we’re always here to help.

General Charter Questions

What is included in a crewed yacht charter?
A fully crewed charter includes your captain, chef, all meals, drinks, water toys, fuel, cruising permits, cleaning, bedding, towels and all onboard services.

Mediterranean charters often use a plus expenses model (APA), while Caribbean charters are normally all-inclusive.
What is the difference between a catamaran and a power yacht?
Catamarans offer exceptional space, stability and comfort, ideal for families and groups.

Power yachts travel faster, offer luxury interiors, and are well-suited for guests wanting a premium experience with more itinerary flexibility.

Both provide a smooth ride, but catamarans are generally more stable at anchor.
How far in advance should I book?
Peak dates (Christmas, New Year, Easter, and June–September in the Med) book 9–12 months in advance.

For Caribbean winter charters, we recommend booking 6–9 months ahead to secure the best yachts.
Is a 7-night charter mandatory?
Most yachts only offer 7-night charters, particularly in the Caribbean and Mediterranean.

Shorter charters may be possible depending on the yacht’s schedule and season.
What’s the payment schedule?
A standard charter agreement requires:

50% deposit on signing
50% balance 45–60 days before the charter

Additional APA/Tax may be due closer to departure.
Are crew gratuities included?
Gratuities are not included.

The standard guideline is 15–20% of the charter rate, based on the level of service provided.

Caribbean FAQs

Which Caribbean destinations do you recommend?
BVI (British Virgin Islands) – Calm waters, short sailing distances, ideal for first-time charters and families.
USVI – Easy access from the USA, beautiful bays and national parks.
Bahamas – Incredible sandbars, crystal-clear water and private anchorages.

We match you with the best area based on your dates, group size, and style of vacation.
When is the best time to charter in the Caribbean?
The main season is December to April with warm, dry weather.

Christmas and New Year weeks book very early and are priced at premium holiday rates. Shoulder months (November & May) can offer good value with fewer crowds.
Are Caribbean charters all-inclusive?
Most Caribbean crewed catamarans are all-inclusive: yacht, crew, meals, standard open bar, fuel, and local cruising taxes.

Some yachts may charge extra for premium drinks, shore excursions, or specific requests.
Do we need experience to charter in the Caribbean?
No prior boating experience is needed. All of our charters are fully crewed with a professional captain and chef.

You simply relax and enjoy the islands while the crew handles navigation, safety and onboard service.

Mediterranean FAQs

Which Mediterranean destinations do you recommend?
Greece – Island-hopping, traditional villages, clear blue waters.
Croatia – Historic coastal towns, national parks and sheltered bays.
Italy & France – Stylish harbours, fine dining, and iconic coastlines.

We’ll recommend an itinerary based on your interests and the time of year.
How do Mediterranean pricing and APA work?
Mediterranean charters are usually “plus expenses”. The base charter fee covers the yacht and crew.

An APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance) is collected in advance (typically 20–35%) to cover fuel, food, beverages, dockage, and taxes. Any unused APA is refunded after the charter with a full account of spending.
When is the best time to charter in the Mediterranean?
The main season runs from June to September. July and August are the busiest and warmest months.

May, early June and late September often provide great weather with fewer crowds and better availability.
Can you help with restaurant and shore recommendations?
Yes. We, together with your captain, can suggest shoreside restaurants, beach clubs and local experiences in each region.

Simply tell us your preferences, and we’ll help you build a Mediterranean itinerary that suits your style.

Food, Preferences & Insurance

What if we have special dietary needs?
Your chef will tailor all meals to your preferences.

Vegan, gluten-free, children’s meals, allergies — everything is handled in your Guest Preference Sheet before you board.
Is travel insurance required?
Travel insurance is highly recommended, especially during peak seasons and for international travel.

Weather-related trip interruptions, medical emergencies and delays are covered under most policies.
